Chardi Kala Journal
In Sikhi our Guru Sahibs, Shaheeds and Ancestors have always displayed in numerous ways, their level of immense Chardi Kala through challenges, pain, bravery and grief. How can we take inspiration from them and adapt this gift of Chardi Kala that they have given us into our daily lives?
The Chardi Kala Journal
The journal is something that is very dear to me and is more than just a product. It gave me great joy knowing that sangat were using the Chardi Kala notebook for gratitude journals, diaries, book writing, creative ideas. So the journal is designed to go that extra mile and encourage you to write down thoughts and actions and help process them with a Chardi Kala mindset. The prompts can help us see what we have learnt through our challenges and focus on what is helping us to achieve more of a Chardi Kala mindset.
There are countless benefits to journaling, here are some;
- It can help clarify priorities, helping reduce stress
- Gain perspective when things are feeling too much
- Discover how you actually feel, by writing it down on paper
- Encourage gratitude, self compassion and self love
- Contribute to a happier you!
Journaling for children and teenagers
There are a number of benefits of journaling for children and teenagers. It fosters positive thinking and can help them focus on a particular area of their life or aspect of their education that they want to work on. It can help them grow and develop and see the best in situations, as well as help them move on from strong emotions. It can be useful at a time of change in their lives, this could be to do with family or it could be their bodies changing as they enter different stages in their life.
'But I'm not a good writer'
My response to the above would be, so what! Your journal isn't something that is going to be marked by a teacher! Your journal is all about you and unique to you. Sometimes there is a lot going on in life, which means there is a lot going on in our minds. Writing things down can help you express emotions and feelings and help you look back to see how far you have come. You may want to start by keeping it simple and then see where it takes you.
'Journaling is just for women'
In Sikhi we have the most amazing role models who were writers, our Gurus. Writing down our daily thoughts and emotions can give us strength and build on our personal growth. Once we are comfortable with how we are feeling we may be confident enough to talk to someone about it.
The journal includes information on Seva, Sangat and Simran as a must in our path of Sikhi. May we all embrace the goodness and blessings that comes with these three things. May we strive to practice Chardi Kala in everything we do and take positive steps in looking after ourselves and those around us, to be happier and live a life of elevated energy.
Happy Journaling x
